Book Description
This is the English translation of the Annals of Ireland by the Four Masters as translated by Connellan, part two. It covers the years 1507 A.D. to 1616 A.D.. (This is Part Two of the Annals, Part One runs from 1171 A.D. to 1506 A.D.).
Due to the expense and importance of this work we publish this volume on its own here. This translation of the Annals was the first ever made into English. This volume includes the four color frontispiece, and extensive footnotes of genealogical and historical importance. This second half of the annals contains the large folding map with hundreds of families located on it. The map was prepared by Dr. MacDermott in the 19th century, and is found only in this edition of the Annals.
The original text of the Annals were compiled and written in the 17th century. The extensive footnotes were written by Owen Connellan and Dr. MacDermott in the 19th century.
