Accompanying Irish Music
Sean Nos Singing
“Sean Nos” is unaccompanied singing in the Irish traditional style.
Literally meaning “the old way,” it is highly ornamented, technically
difficult and historically sung in the Irish language. This class will
cover several songs and will include style, ornamentation and
interpretation. Since her work with Arcady in the 1990s, Niamh Parsons
has gone on to record seven solo albums and is recognized as one
of the best singers to come out of Ireland.
